Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has called on all Muslim countries to increase their cooperation to completely eliminate violence and extremism.

“We are witnessing unseemly measures and killing and even civil war in the region and in our neighboring countries,” President Rouhani said in a meeting with new Brunei Ambassador to Tehran Hj Mulok Hj Jumat on Monday.

Muslim countries should help in order to restore peace, stability and security to the Muslim world, he added.

He further stressed the importance of improving relations between Iran and Brunei as two Muslim countries and expressed Tehran’s readiness to bolster bilateral cooperation in all fields.

Rouhani pointed to a planned visit by Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to Tehran and hoped the two countries would manage to strengthen cooperation.

The new Brunei ambassador, who submitted his credentials to the Iranian president, said the two countries have cordial relations.

Hj Jumat added that during the Bruneian Sultan’s trip to Iran, the two sides would sign agreements in the fields of education, joint investment ventures and fight against human and drug trafficking.

He also threw his country’s weight behind Iran’s principled stance on international developments.
